Trey Thomas has long been in the conversation as one of the best guards in the DMV in the class of 2021; he has long been a primetime competitor and was a major contributor on one of the best teams in the country this past 2015-16 season.
With a primary focus on academics, Thomas trajectory is
taking an express route to the top of the food chain or rather the top of the
rankings in the basketball world, with the recent announcement of his reclassification
to the class of 2022. After a recent
growth spurt his upside is even exciting and enticing to scouts because he's
going to continue to fill out physically, presumably for years to come, and is
already highly skilled with good length and athleticism as 2022 guard he will
be one of the most dangerous and most prolific nationally.
Due to Trey Thomas’ size, length, IQ, experience, and
versatility he is capable of playing on or off the ball and making and impact
at both positions. He's capable of making plays with the ball in his hands and
is deceptively athletic and is very creative around the rim and in the paint,
but is equally effective as a catch and shoot player with very consistent three-point
shot.
Love to watch in him space as he is shifty, tough, and has
the “dog” and killer instinct needed to go at and separate himself in big
moments. Sometimes you scratch your
head, but never for academic purposes in the best interest of a child; but the
pieces in this instance when combine with the basketball side make it a perfect
storm for Thomas all-around but many a upcoming dark and stormy night to come for
opponents.
