Patrick
Ngongba Jr. (2024) has the size, skill and pedigree and that combination places his immediately
into the national conversation as so many DMV players before him. Patrick’s dad stands 6’8 and starred at
George Washington University with another local star Shawnta Rogers (Baltimore)
and then played briefly overseas. His
mother, well she is “only” 6’4; any questions so far?
We were
extremely impressed with the length and versatility of Ngongba’s skill set;
during the Agame tournament weekend we were able to see an array of skills on
both end of the floor. Just like his
father Patrick was active on the defensive end, he went aggressively after
blocks, owned the glass cleaning it on both ends – on the other ends he had the
ability to dominate every possession but proved to be a willing passer with
great vision.
When the
rock was giving to him in the scoring zone he was equally effective with his
back to the basket as he was facing up.
He was excellent from the high-post both as a passer and a scorer. What may have been the most impressive was
his ability to handle the ball on the perimeter; its clear he is being groomed
at an early age to be a perimeter player and that will ultimately be his
calling card; he looks good and is comfortable with the ball on the wing when
defended as well as in space. He can
stop and pop, catch and shoot, and has a nice floater that no one his age can
hope of stopping.
His poise
and all around skill makes it easy to see and say that this kids will not only
be a player – but one of the best players in this class not just in the DMV but
in the country. Add Patrick Ngongba Jr. to
your players to watch list immediately.
