DeMatha and Miami Hurricane commit Earl Timberlake as begun
to appear on multiple NBA Mock Draft; and has begun to flirt with consideration
as a potential lottery pick according to many scouts. At 6’6, 212lbs he as the
body and frame to compete immediately at that college level and with a year of
college level training most certainly would be able to sustain the rigors at the
next level.
Timberlake is an exceptionally long and strong combo guard
that displays the size, athleticism and skill combination the pro’s are looking
for. He's made great progress with his jumper has an improved technique and compact
release that has shown excellent rotation.
This has allowed him to make rhythm shots both off the catch from behind
the arc as well as rising up in the mid-range area.
His motor and energy level has are unquestioned at the high
school level, often he simply outworks opponents with his toughness and
physicality. He's a good vertical athlete, strong rebounder, and dynamic
defender when fully engaged another attribute that will increase his
professional value as time goes on.
At the end of the day
he has the tools to translate to the highest levels with his length, strength,
athleticism, and defensive versatility but he must ensure that his shooting
ability continues to improve, especially beyond the arch. With a non-stop motor that continues to develop
- working to expand his offensive game will likely become his top priority.
Earl Timberlake has upside that is significant, there is
many that feel amongst others he was a McDonald’s snub especially with the
season his Stags are having - watch his
scoring number from day one as a college
freshman, an efficient mid-teens output next year as a PG would likely result
in a lottery selection at minimum but would surly secure a 1st round
selection.
