Zion Harmon's Roar Still Rings Bells in the DMV

Zion Harmon has committed to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in the first major surprise of the spring.  The Hilltoppers over the last five years have continued to dabble in the conversation of top 30 players in the county. They have again landed a big fish for their small pound in DC native Zion Harmon.  Harmon thanked his doubters in his commitment speech – twice – but few to this day understand how such a talent born and breed in this area didn’t play a single minute for the plethora of schools in his home state.

Harmon has all of the tools that coaches love to see in point guards ad without the convoluted situation at some of the high major we may be discussing and looking at an entire different situation as it pertain to commitments.

“The Lion” has great strength for size for a point guard and will be an immediate starter for WKU. Despite being powerfully-built, he has the quickness to penetrate past defenders and get to the rim. He also shoots the ball well, extending out to well beyond the three-point stripe - all of this is well known in this area.

His feel and understanding of the game is beyond his years, bordering on a professional level that point guards have to possess to be successful at the high major level. He is vastly underrated in his ability to incorporate his teammates into the offensive framework. He also handles the ball adeptly as if it is on a string. He does a great job spacing the floor with his shooting and ability to breakdown defenders, which put him in an elite status among guards – the same status he has enjoyed as Top 20 ESPN Prospect and one he enjoyed as a Top 5 Middle School player. He penetrates to the basket fearlessly. He plays with a great amount of poise and confidence.

Harmon would have never left the DMV if  a local recruiter with NIKE  had met his request to play on the EYBL Circuit as a 7th grader – at which time he average 14ppg and 6ast before entering the 8th grade.  Its amazing how one mistake in the evaluation of a single player can change the narrative of a program and a player.  Harmon went on to finish as a Top 20 player in the country in his classof 2021 according to ESPN prior to re-classing into the 2020 class.

Harmon will long be considered a DMV legend with the final chapter to his story still to still be written – but many never understand why he left; he didn’t have believers or individuals with the ability to evaluate at young age what he would end up being.  Harmon turned down Louisville, Kansas, Maryland and Kentucky in picking Western Kentucky emphasizing what it takes at even a young age to properly gage talent.

The Big Dog is off the Leash Terrance Williams out West Catching Bodies

Those who reside in the DMV have grown to watch 2020 Gonzaga bound Terrance Williams grow and develop over the course of many years.  Many have questioned over the course of time Williams ability to transition to the wing position; some even openly doubted.

Locally forced to play more of a back to the basket high/low post style the substance in Williams game and his hard work and continued development has been lost somewhat nationally.  His team has performed as one of the best in the country but we have not seen the prolific play that propelled him to the top of the national rankings in his class.

Until now; in similar fashion as his appearance last season with the legendary “Terror Squad” Williams went Bi-Coastal suiting up and for the West Coast All-Stars which finally let the world see what Williams has been spending hours in the gym creating.  He unleashed with a fury unknown to mankind, taking bodies, catching bodies, and returning to the form that the DMV and world has wanted to see for a very long time – call him “Prego” ‘cause dammit it’s in there!
There is fine line between creating success for someone else and doing so for oneself – this past weekend Williams "did him" (which every KID should have the right to do) at the highest level; we dare someone to watch the clips below and say differently.

Profiling Jeremy Roach - Quietly Becoming One of the Country's Most Potent Players & Hottest Names

Roach is Averaging 32.5 PPG playing at the 13U level

As the proverbial middles school season draws to a close and high school coaches have secured their incoming freshman classes; the attention and focus has slowly but surely slipped to the class of 2020 and the next potential crop of elite players in this area.

One of the most sought after players in the class overall and at his position is point guard Jeremy Roach. At the 8th grade level there is little place for players to hide; some of the most elite struggle at this level because they lack a glaring aspect to their games.  Could be the ability to play within structure as in the past they have been bigger, stronger, or more athletic.  Could be their inability to make reads and understand the nuances of the game, physical strength sometimes also becomes a factor – nevertheless as high school coach become involved and potential circuit play and access get put on the table; games are critiqued at a much higher level looking for true skill sets opposed to bully ball tactics.  The game is less about winning championships and more about positioning and creating the best opportunity for the player and family.

Roach continues to impress and position himself slowly but surely in that conversation locally and nationally.  He is arguably the most complete guard in the DMV when all aspects are considered.  Keep in mind that though he is competing against many reclassed and grade exception players as a true 13 years old Roach’s production is as good and/or better; especially when evaluating production and efficiency.  His growth trajectory vs a player 12 to 15 months his senior only takes common sense to understand that at the same time in his span Roach likely will be further ahead and thus a very attractive investment.

"Roach is the 2020 guard I'd invest in" says the Hoop Report
Add the intangible aspects of coach ability, respect for the game, and work ethic and its easy to tell that Jeremy Roach is a star of today and super star of tomorrow – we expect a meteoric rise from Roach in the next year and beyond.  Specifically Roach has the strength, athleticism, and the knack to score from anywhere on the floor and the finishing ability to also do it in tight spaces with a multitude of finishes. When given the green light even playing one to two levels up because of his range and jump shot – free throw shooting, and overall prowess he can be a consistent 25ppg scorer easy and is clearly already one of the most natural scorers in the country, not many can make that claim and do it in ways that will translate to the next level which is the most important and key aspect.  He operates with terrific body control, has the ball on a wire, and no one dictates where he goes with the ball except for him.  He is a tough fundamental defender who has the tools to be a lock down player – he does it on both ends and is a team first guy; he checks the SCOREBOARD not the scorebook after the game and if his team has won that’s what matters most.  Roach is a winner in every way while boasting a exceptionally high GPA to go with PPG average.  Watch close as Roach projects just was well as any guard in the country – we sat down with him to ask him a few questions and see how he was wired, its time for the DMV to get what will soon be a household name in short order…Mr. Jeremy Roach Aka Colt .45, don’t let the smooth game fool ya.
