The Return of the Playmaker - Brelsford Is Back

Following two impressive weekends – one in highly competitive e the Under Armour Next Combine Series and the other in the Buckeye Prep Elite 60 Showcase  - Tyler Brelsford has shown that he can still be a dominant force in the class of 2020.

In Breslford’s last two outings, the well-seasoned and nationally ranked floor general has put together additions to a resume that has immediately placed Brelsford back into the national conversation. Having added inches and strength to an experienced high IQ skill set the PG is poised for resurgence on the national stage and is positioning himself for a solid high career to commence in September 2016 at local powerhouse Mt. St. Josephs in Baltimore, Maryland.

Tyler was one of the top statistical performers at the UA Next Combine Series held at St. Johns College High School and followed that up this weekend with a selection to the Buckeye Prep Elite 60 Showcase Team in Columbus, Ohio.  

 

While he’s been especially effective of late, his overall start to the season has also been notable, playing for and being a major contributor to one of the nation’s top team in the 14U age group. Brelsford team won this year’s championship in the NIKE MADE Hoops League, a Basketball Spotlight Title, and notched several stellar wins at the 15U level in the DMV Elite Super Showcase, NIKE EYBL, and other prominent events.

A familiar face to the DMV Breslford has consistently been a part of some of the area winningest teams and this year is no exception – check out Brelsford’s recently released mix-tape and dazzling performance at the UA Next Combine Series below.

                                    

UA Next Combine Series: Roland Houston Tells the Next Generation What it Takes

Houston was an all-city player and honorable mention All-American at Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia.

In his college years, Roland Houston played 105 career basketball games, averaging 12.8 points and 10 rebounds per game in his senior season. Houston’s team ranked nationally two of the four seasons that Houston played, and the team won 20 games in a season more than once.

Roland Houston was invited as a guest speaker at the Under Armour Next Combine Series Held at St. John's High School In Washington, D.C on April 30th. Houston is a former basketball player at The University of Rhode Island. After graduation he played pro basketball from 1982-96 in France, Spain, Israel, and Argentina.  He later coached at La Salle, George Washington and George Mason. He spoke to the players about what it means to be called "elite" and what it takes to get to the next level and a player and person.

UA Next Combine Series IAction Is Fantastic!

There is a saying in sports - "big time players make big time plays in big time games." During the recent UA Next Combine Series held in Washington DC at St. Johns College High School, 40 of the top players in the country were invited to participate in the first of 6 regional combines that will stretch the entire country.  UA will cumulate these combines with an opportunity for the top 24 players identified to compete on one of the sport's biggest stages the UA Elite 24 Game held annually in New York City. UA Next Combine Series Announces Partnership with Nationally renowned Pro Trainer Damin Altizer

Recently media outlets across the country announced the inaugural grassroots program entitled UA Next Combine Series designed to identify and select the preeminent players in the 8^th grade class of 2020. 

As announced Under Armour beginning April 30^th, 2016 in Washington, DC at St. Johns College High School and continuing in Columbus, OH, Atlanta, GA, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA and the Bay Area, CA. will evaluate 40-players at each location providing player profiles that will be housed on the UAA website http://www.theuaassociation.com/

The aforementioned site is visited frequently by the top colleges and institutions across the country for a multitude of reason including but not limited to statistics, schedules, player information, and upcoming events.  This platform will provide the invited players with maximum exposure as well as the opportunity to play in one of the nation’s premier showcase events; the Elite 24 All-Star Game played on the Pier under the Brooklyn Bridge.  With every player in attendance given the opportunity to compete in front of major shoe representative the possibilities are limitless.   

As part of the identification process players in attendance will put through a series drills, situational stations, and actual game play.  UA Next Combine Series is proud to announce the participation of one of America’s most experienced and nationally renowned trainers Damin Altizer.  Altizer will work directly with each player on the development of their specific skill sets and provide the same level of expertise he has used to train such players as:

BREAKING NEWS: DMV UA Next Combine Series For 8th Graders Approaching Sell-Out

The Elite 24 game played annually on the tip of Pier 2, address Brooklyn Bridge Park, jutting like a finger into the East River not a bad place for a basketball game especially on the glistening hardwood court brought in by Under Armour.  In the background you will find the Manhattan skyline and the magnificant presence of the Brooklyn Bridge. Tugboats, water taxis, and the odd old Yankee clipper ship plow the bottle-green surface of the river, under a sky blue sky and a stand full of on-lookers.

 

This is the location were the country’s best eighth-graders and high school players will be put on display; decked head-to-toe in Under Armour apparel. Before anyone can be indoctrinated and appear on the frontline of basketball exposer or ESPN for that matter; one must survive the gauntlet of players at the regional combine series.

 

 

In 2006 UA introduced the event and the country to NBA players: Kevin Love, DeAndre Jordan, Michael Beasley, Kyle Singler (street nickname “Shampoo”), Brandon Jennings (Elite 24 single-game assist record holder), Tyreke Evans, J.J. Hickson, Cole Aldrich (“Cole Play”), Jerryd Bayless (“Pay Up”), and Lance Stephenson. The inaugural game was the focus of the documentary Gunnin’ for That #1 Spot, directed by the late Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys. 

Fourteen of the top 100 high school players in the 2015 ESPN 100 were there, eight of them from the top 20 — including Malik Newman, Stephen Zimmerman, and Jaylen Brown. Four of the top-ranked players in the class of 2016 were there, including Thon Maker, Josh Jackson, Jayson Tatum, and Harry Giles.

 

With six national locations (Washington DC, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Northern & Southern California) and limited spots for this invite only event; Ohio has SOLD OUT, Georgia already has a waiting list, and with less than 48-hours remaining for registration into the DC Event which will provide each in attendance with a regional specific shoe and apparel package the Under Armour Combine Series continues to attract the best and brightest.  Representatives expect the DC location to be sold out no later than Monday April 11^th and have already confirmed participation from some of the nation’s highest rated middle school ballers.

Under Armour’s National Search Starts in the DMV April 30th 2016

The rosters for this summer’s Elite 24 2020 (eight grade) all-star game will be determined by evaluating the top players nationwide, with Under Armour inviting 24 top-100 prospects from the class of 2020 the competition is sure to stiff.

The game was first held in 2006 at Rucker Park in Harlem, but after spending a couple of years at California's Venice Beach, the event is now hosted in Brooklyn annually and has become one of if not the most exciting and prestigious event of the annually each summer.

Three No. 1 NBA draft picks have participated over the years as well as five NBA All-Stars and 55 first-round picks. ESPNU will televise the Elite 24 as it does each year.



This isn’t an open event which is one thing player must get used to as they prepare to walk on to High School Campuses; this isn’t a place where you prove yourself – it’s a place where you must be proven and a environment where iron sharpens iron.

Under Armour’s Invite Only “UA Next Combine Series” for Basketball’s Next Generation

 

 

This April, Under Armour Basketball will introduce the “UA Next Combine Series” for select middle school basketball players. The Combine Series is an invite only program that will offer eighth graders high-level teaching, instruction and competition.  The program will run for a full day in each of the following six cities nationwide, including: Washington, D.C., Columbus, Ohio, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston and Walnut Creek, California.

The “UA Next Combine Series” is for current eighth grade players (Class of 2020) and 40 total players will be selected at each location. Players will compete for invitations to the prestigious “UA Next Experience” at the Under Armour Elite 24 this August in New York City.  Under Armour’s Elite 24 event is the nation’s premier annual high school basketball showcase that offers the world’s top prospects an opportunity to experience the energy and spirit of authentic playground basketball, while competing on the biggest stage of the summer.

 

 

“UA Next Combine Series” is the latest program from Under Armour’s Grassroots Basketball platform. It joins ongoing nationwide events, including the UA Association League, NBPA Top 100 Camp, SC30 Select Camp, UA All American Camp and the UA Elite 24. It is the purpose of these events to provide youth basketball players with the opportunity to hone their skills and maximize exposure in high-level teaching and competitive environments.  The platform aligns with Under Armour’s mission to “Make All Athletes Better.”
