DMV Preps Player Spotlight: Anthony Harris

Anthony Harris is sinewy point guard prospect with extraordinary length. He is a true point guard who snaps two-handed passes in the half court set that always land in the shooter's pocket. He advances the ball in transition and shows a nice feel for the game overall. In transition, he is a one man fast-break and may be the fastest baseline to baseline player in the age group.

Harris is an ultra-high energy athletic attacking guard that can make plays on and off the ball offensively and defensively. He can get to the rim on the break and finish above it with flare. He also is an excellent open court player either as a lead guard or as a lane filler. Right now he's a rhythm scorer who is very capable of getting hot; but watching him closely you see the development of a mechanically sound shooting stroke.

Harris is a true next level point guard who already possess excellent size, strength and athleticism for his age group but unquestionably and most importantly these attributes also translates to the next level.  His father stands 6’6 with a very solid weight barring frame - his son has been blessed with this as well and will adopt these same characteristics.  His physical ceiling is far from being realized; he has the ball on a string and can get where ever he needs to on the floor regardless who is defending him.  The son of coach his basketball IQ also become a valuable asset.

Anthony Harris should be on everyone board as a player to watch now and later.  For most of this year Harris played double duty competing on the 8th grade Takeover team as a 7th grader but also coming down and to his own age group and dominating – showing his immense talent and skills.  High Schools coaches will be served well to include Anthony Harris in all their future considerations as he is clearly not just a top local product but a national fixture as well.

A quick example of what Harris can do can be seen here:
