Cameron Gillus exploded on the scene last year making a name
for himself in the DMV and across the nation – he followed up a stellar performance
at the Basketball Spotlight Future Phenom Camp with a body of work that would
impress at any level during the 2014-15 season.
One of the most skilled youth players you will find, Gullus
is a workout warrior who is constantly striving to improve his game. He returned to the Camp this year and re-established
himself as a force to be reckoned with showing a combination of skill, IQ, and
physical tools that continue to have him mentioned with the best of best in the
class of 2023.
Cameron is arguably the most talented young guard in
Virginia due to his lethal combination of athleticism and skill. He is a gifted
scorer who can convert buckets at all three levels. His burst in transition
during his weekend at the Spotlight Camp was dynamic; he showed he can finish
with either hand. He knocked in several jump shots both in transition as well
as in the half court set. His 1st step is impressive and he can stop on a dime
and pull-up for the shot (has a nice step-back jump shot also). He competes at
both ends and has active hands Cameron is also an excellent scoring playmaker
off the bounce.
He is a very well rounded combo guard that can flat out score
and he easily transitions to the lead guard spot where he can operate as a
floor general and facilitator he make the right reads and creates proper
spacing to make plays and the players around him better.
The gifted young guard has a lot of tools at his disposal
and he knows how use them appropriately in situational basketball. As his
game continues to evolve, he should be considered a Top 10 talent nationally
and Top 3 in the DMV moving forward.
